It is optimized for all the new features that the MP has. It was written from the ground up for the MP and P4P

Both NugGerath & dronist are correct. After Feb 2017, DJI is only supporting the Phantom 3 series, OSMO, and the Inspire 1 with the original GO App (Generation 3 products).

For the Mavic Pro, Phantom 4 Series, and the Inspire 2, DJI wants you to use DJI GO 4 App as it will continue to support the broader feature set of these aircraft (Generation 4 products). The latest versions of the GO App will warn you of this split in GO App development:
