So I am about to receive the nVIDIA k1 tomorrow which was my first choice back then but had to get the Samsung instead because the K1 was out of stock everywhere.
I see that it has Android 5 loaded with a free upgrade to v6 online. So what are you guys using that have the K1, v5 or v6?  Any issues with using v6 and the K1 with DJI GO?

I just got my P4 today and I have the K1.  It has just been updated to V7 and a lot of people are complaining about it.  Personally I haven't had any problems since the latest update on the K1 and it seems to work very well with the DJI Go app.  This is my first drone and I've not flown it yet so maybe you should wait for a more experienced person to comment.  Hope this helps in some way.

I'm got 6 which is marshmallow I guess.  Mine is working great but I don't use Go.

There's a reason why those K1's are never in stock.

Mine worked well until about 3 updates ago of GO. It is on android 7.0. Now GO crashes quite often.  I am thinking of wiping and starting over. Still, tried a few and this tablet overall works well. If the following is not resolved, i may have to dump GO and start using Litchi...

     No, the DJI GO 4 app was developed because the newer Phantoms are processing heavy.  Our older babies can still use the earlier DJI GO app with updates like my P3P.  My P4 is schizophrenic and goes between DJI GO and DJI GO 4.  The P4 Pro is strictly DJI GO 4.

     So, according to DJI, the P3A is not able or supposed to use DJI GO 4.

     The problem with version 6.0.0, was a compass problem, I think, but it was resolved with the update to 6.0.1.  My nVidia Shield K1 works like a champ, very happy.  As far as I know, things only get better with the nVidia Shield K1.

     BTW, I know what you mean by having to get an alternative because the nVidia Shield K1 was out of stock.  Somebody mentioned on this Forum that it was in stock and I bought it immediately!  I had been checking for weeks.

I had the compass problem with 6.0.1 and rolled it back to 5 which I think is lollipop....The K1 works a treat...awesome little tablet. Will be interesting to see how Nougat 7 goes.....that is when we get it in Australia........ Cheers mate!!

Sorry old mate ...yeh  I checked ..it was 6.0.0 I had the compass problem with....it was all over the place.I will stick with 5 for now and see how 7 goes for other people until its available in AU !! Cheers mate..

     Check out the update for the problem.  That is why they published 6.0.1.  It fixes the problem.  If 6.0.1 does not work, then you can go back to 5.

     I still have to check out 7 though.  So far the nVidia Shield K1 is the best, how do you beat that?

Yeah, in the absence of the K1, I bought the Samsung Tab A 8" and it works fine with the Go app except the Tab A did not have a compass installed so the radar function does not work. Mine developed an intermittent problem with the touch screen so I am shipping it off for warranty repair. New nVidia is arriving today.

you can reset compass if needed on K-1 with Field Compass 360 APP

worked great for that back when it was an issue,
but as mentioned not a problem any longer.

also A nice compass app in general to have!

you should be happy,
it is a nice tablet with lots of features that are useful.
stick an SD card in and it can use as system memory OR storage, etc

BTW I have mine in full use for everything as well as flying,
it is more than capable to do so....

I have K1 on v7 (Nougat) and DJI GO 4 keeps crushing all the time while flying! Last time I flew around 2x 25 mins and app crashed like 3 or 4 times.  1 time it "stopped working" , the rest was something like minimize app.

I don't use GO4 but I did see in the new features and such you can go into setting and adjust how specific App runs, memory, priority , etc..  lots of variables  now for customization.
You may want to see if any of that can help.

Yeh I tried that but it still did not work. The only way the compass would work properly the K1 had to held in portrait mode...went crazy when tilted over into landscape to use...Apart from that I still have the 360 APP its very handy...Cheers mate

     You will be impressed.  Be sure to check out the HDMI option.  If you had a 1080p goggle, it would work with it.  My 15.6" 1080p monitor looks real good with it but my goggles are not 1080p.  It also comes with 4K support.

OK...that might have been why the compass would still not work...wrong App....but in saying that I have been into the google store and I cannot find Field Compass 360. Is it a circle with red on the left side of the circle and blue on the right hand side with 360 in the middle?? Is it possible for you to stick a pic on here so I know what it looks like....if you cant thats OK. Cheers mate!!

It was out of stock everywhere when I bought the Samsung (unless you wanted to pay $400. to the scalpers). Read it a little slower next time.

I use a Nvidia Shield and its fairly smooth, not as smooth as an iPad though. I did not do the last update that Nvidia pushed out. There was nothing in the Changelog that I needed.

I just bought a new K1 from Best-Buy.....it was out of stock at all locations in my area, so I bought it online. Got it in 2-days. Couldn't believe it. Yeah I think Amazon has them too. I also did the upgrade to V7....I have tried both DJI-GO and Litchi on the new tablet and no issues yet. I did disable everything possible, because I use this tablet strictly for my Phantom. This is my second Nvidia since I gave my son my original one. Nothing different about the new one, just seems to work very well.

So far I flew yesterday with the new K1 still using v5 OS. No problems although the radar display did not point right at the AC. May need to calibrate the K1 compass.

Dual processors 1.4GHz & 1.8GHz = 3.2GHz

Updated to V7 Nougat and all the apps Go Go4 and Litchi seem to run ok and the video feed seems stable with my P4. I did however do a factory reset before and after the update to minimize any possible problems. I haven't had chance for a flight yet after the upgrade as the weather here has been poor.

I'm using an iPhone 5. I want the galaxy s7/8 but with a lot of more issue son android according to the online facebook forum i don't know if I should?

I just sent my K1 back because after the upgrade the DJI Go 4 app crashed at least 4 times each time I used it. Since I had just purchased the K1 and didn't know when a fix would be coming out and not wanting to be out of the return window I sent it back. The update made my K1 unuseable. In reading here I see it's hit or miss mine was a miss. Also, the tablet is not very bright at all, in fact, it is much darker than the Samsung Tab 8 I was using before the K1 purchase. FYI the Samsung Tablet never crashed the DJI app but I have witnessed stuttering from the camera feed on the tablet. I hate to do it but I think I'm going to end up buying an I-Pad to work with my P4P they seem overall to have the least problems.
