I reciently stumbled across some cool photomanipulation done using a drone.
Does anybody know how this is done? Do you reckon 3D models where created?

My guess: The image is perhaps a 'vertical pan'.

I've seen these before but not previously analysed how he has done it.

What he appears to be doing is taking the photos like this:

1. Start with the drone lower to the ground, with camera looking forwards (these form the lower part of the final image)

2. Move forwards and upwards and point the camera down a bit

3. Continue moving forwards and upwards and point the camera down a bit more

4. For the final segment at the top of the image the drone is highest and camera pointing straight down

5. Use panorama software such as Hugin (good, and free) or Autopano (paid for) to stitch the images.

I may give this a try : )

Very, very cool photos team. With respect to the original as queried by the op, it's a similar effect to the CGI used in Doctor Strange. You just gotta watch that if you haven't already...

That's a drone pic, taken at the top of a mountain, after a grueling climb up.

You will notice,  if you zoom in closer, that the guys are all roped together,  for everyone's safety. ;-)


Yes, it's an awesome shot. Somebody had to carry their drone up there.
