I have just changed from Android to an Ipad Mini 4 with IOS and this setting was not on Android. I have watched a number of videos and have never seen this mentioned.
It is under the Controller Settings, then Advanced Settings, then Cinematic Mode heading.
The first is called Cinematic Mode Gain and by default is set on 10.
Under that is Course Angular Velocity Range in Cinematic Mode which has a default setting of 50.0

Can anyone explain the purpose of these two settings?

Me too. Strange to find no mention of this anywhere on the internet, and no word from the guys who implemented it...

Angular Velocity relates to the yaw rate or rotation of the drone.  In Cinematic mode it is my experience that braking is dramatically slowed, and while I have not paid attention to the rotational aspects (I will now) I am guessing it is ramped up and ramped down to give a smoother feel to the shot.  Clearly i am pulling this out of my ear, maybe DJI will clear up this speculation.  

basically it alters the attitude and brake settings. Unlike Tripod Mode, it does not limit upper end speed but smoothes throttle response. IMO not a mode worth activating as I typically want responsive (aerobatic) or tripod and this mode splits the difference. The slow response to stopping actually makes this mode a bit dangerous to utilize:

I totally concur. Cinematic mode is a bit like course lock. Once you release the sticks, it will float for a while.  For me tripod mode has the most usefulness

Thanks everyone for your input. I don't think this mode is dangerous at all as you have to deliberately enter into the mode so you know that braking is going to be effected. I think I will use this much more than tripod mode and will have to experiment with the 2 settings I mentioned above to find out what they really do as it seems that no one really knows.
