For those experiencing the DJI app connect issue, I have a solution for you (note this only applies to Android users).  
I currently used a Samsung J7, which was experience the random app disconnects and failures.  So,  I decided to purchased a dedticated Android device.  I purchased the  BLU Life X8 device which as an octa-core processor running 1.4Gz.  Inexpensive phone with good performance.  I only installed the Dji GO 4 app and the Litchi app; these are the only two apps other than OS related apps installed and in use during flight.  I also ensured during flight that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth serviced were disabled.  


Do date (24 missions), I have not experienced a app failure or disconnect.  


Hope this helps anyone with this issue.

Buying a new "dedicated" phone is not a fix, in my opinion.  The software team needs to test the app on iOS and Android phones before release.   

Meant to say work around, but I did not find away I could edit the post. But I agree, software team needs ID the issue and correct.   Another benefit in my view of a dedicated phone/device ensures my actual phone is available for other uses.
