Came accross this on tinterwebz. Seems to suggest we might be a step closer to seeing the DJI goggles soon as FCC have granted

I have no firm evidence other than this link, but it seems the wait may be over soon .... not sure i'll have spare pennies for them though :p

The big questions aside from timeframe are price and capabilities. I might be interested, but the goggles would need to be competitively priced (compared to, say, the Moverio BT-300), offer a significantly better experience, or both. Otherwise it's just an overpriced one-trick pony and certainly doesn't seem likely to score points for compactness.

per FAA, flying FPV RC aircraft of any sort outdoors, for commercial or for hobby/recreational flying,  is against their guidelines.

For me and for those who fly outside of ths USA, that means nothing.

For those of you who are sticklers for following the rules, these wont be for you. :-)

Read the article properly....

Flights Under Part 107 Rule (effective August 29, 2016): Drone operations that comply with the Part 107 requirements (includes passing an FAA test to obtain a remote pilot certificate). The new rule permits FPV flight with the aid of a spotter.

I did. You didnt.

Very bottom of 107:

Model Aircraft • Part 107 does not apply to model aircraft that satisfy all of
the criteria specified in section 336 of Public Law 112-95.

Public Law 112–95 112th Congress A

(c) MODEL AIRCRAFT DEFINED.—In this section, the term ‘‘model aircraft’’ means an unmanned aircraft that is— (1) capable of sustained flight in the atmosphere; (2) flown within visual line of sight of the person operating the aircraft
