Yes, aim the camera higher, to help avoid the darkened lower horizon.
& I think a pink sky at dusk, is a great way to plan ahead for a  morning flight.

Are you shooting in DNG or Jpeg?

If you have the RAW file then there is probably a lot more scope for editing.
