Yes, the moose like to use the tracks as a trail in high snow years. Easier for them to move around. Unfortunate for them sometimes.

Great job! That moose at the end -- the train seemed to drop its headlights and then bring them back up after passing the moose, do you think was intentional, a way to signal, or at least, not hypnotize the beastie?

I noticed this as well. I also do this in my car for any type of animal.

I tried that out and didn't like it. I am getting more train footage and will do something different next time.

I would suggest to put some music to the video, and then a low volume effect of train movement. I tried by opening multiple youtube videos at the same time and it's amazing!

Just try to play everything at the same moment:

Start the bg music (Volume 100%)



Then start your video (volume 20%)



Start the train sound (volume 20%)

It was just an example, just google for some CC epic music or subscribe to one of those 10bucks a month royalties free audio libraries!

Yes, I do know of royalty free music. I have been editing videos for years. This is the only video I choose not to put music to. Just my choice.

Great stuff and really beautiful scenery.  Thanks for sharing.  Out of curiosity, what sort of temperatures were you shooting in and did you notice much effect on shortening the flight time?

I have filmed at -20F. It complained about the battery being too cold, but I still got more time in the air than my fingers could stand. I got the Mavic in December and it has not been above freezing since. I don't know what it is like to fly in warm weather yet.

That's impressive.  Changing ND filters is the hardest in cold weather, for me anyway.

Absolutely and its unfortunate how much wildlife is wiped out by trains on a yearly basis.. In most cases the snow banks on tracks get so deep the animals cant get out and its game over...

Really well done! I'd love to get some winter footage, but have always wondered about flying the drone in lower temperatures. What were the tamps like when flying?
