Im guessing the 20 somethings and millennials are also burdened by school, family / kids etc.. Free time comes sparingly for my kids raising families.

True, but I believe Kneepuck has it. The 50+ age group has more disposable income, or at least, more ability or desire to re-prioritise to direct funds to our interests. Younger age groups are focussed on mortgage, schooling costs for kids, pushing money into super, etc

And OK, I'll mention the 'elephant in the room' - partners. I'm divorced so no-one to judge me. And my girlfriend likes flying my P4 while I'm flying the P4P, so all good...

This 50 year old is comforted that he is surrounded by the same generation.

I grew up in the computer revolution and embraced it.  I coded in Basic and enjoyed it; built MS Access database apps for fun in my accounting job, was an earlier adopter of digital photography and taught myself photoshop, and I could go on.  I've always been fascinated by flight and built / flew / and crashed a couple of RC gas planes in my late teenage years.  Getting into drones just fit.  As a technology junkie I am amazed at how many different technology innovations are incorporated into my P4P+ -- just take a pause and think about it, it is amazing.  That said, I would add that we are playing with high tech cutting edge flying cameras -- and it is great.  However, we all must remember that being on the cutting edge can sometimes hurt.  DJI will release products that are not 110% tested perfect -- and I accept that -- so think about that when you run into issues.

All fun stuff, and I'm glad to be part of this community.  Lot's of smart people and lot's of fun.

Finally -- we need a secondary poll.  Men versus women?  My guess is we are 95% male -- women, prove me wrong and reply.

That's cool!! Wish they'd glue that mold back together, and pump out a few more like minded ladies, for the RC flight hobby world.  ;-)

Almost 73, after 23 yr old grandson begged me to get P4. Now also have Mavic, but don't let anyone tell you these fly like real helicopters which I did for 30 yrs in Army. They are really much easier unless they go into ATTI MODE, especially with wind over 15 and gusty, then helicopter is easier, lol. But having fun back at NOE altitudes...

Hey, break away BugsMc. Sexual identity has nothing to do with love for photography and tech. What's beautiful and fascinating will be so regardless of sex, and being able to create something that's both is incredibly satisfying. The P4P is a great tool for aiding you with that - have fun.

I'm in the 'pushing' 30 category, though having older parents gave me a mental age boost by +5-10.

Funny you mention a metal detector, I was just reading a long thread elsewhere about magnet fishing.  Basically you attached a strong magnet to paracord and dredge the bottom of lakes or rivers to see what you can find.   As with metal detectors you get a lot of junk but in the right place you can find watches, sunglasses and other stuff that people lose from boats.

I know about Magnet fishing.  I've never tried it though.  Two reasons!  I don't have a strong enough magnet, and I don't have any water around here.  I live on the desert.

I am 65 and cannot believe the lack of care with the DJI support.  I am so sorry I purchased this Phantom 4.  I did the update that was required, (so I thought at the time), to 0620 and screwed up my drone.  I've left numerous messages in the forum and went online with customer support.  Online support, was some child that spent more time putting me on hold (visiting with friends at work) than actually trying to understand my issue.  His answer in the first 3 minutes was the usb port is not working and to send the drone in for repair.  What??  I just purchased it a month ago.  Yep, that's the problem.  Anymore questions??  NO!
And my quest for help on this forum has been ignored for two months.  And then I read the Phantom 4 support is discontinued....  ARE YOU KIDDING ME, SPEND $ 2500.00 DOLLARS FOR A PROFESSIONAL DRONE FOR A MONTH, AND SUPPORT IS DISCONTINUED.  That totally makes me want to purchase more products from DJI.  I AM EXTREMELY UNHAPPY FOR THE WAY DJI SUPPORTS THEIR CUSTOMERS.
THIS LACK OF RESPONSE AND TOTAL LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM IS A TOTAL DISRESPECT OF YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Well, we certainly got off topic on that one, didn't we?
