I live around a lot of water and was looking into some kind of drone insurance,  any suggestions ?  is there even such a thing

Yes, there is. Look into a policy with State Farm, which is $60 per year for most people and provides broad coverage.

Note that each underwriter is different. I had to call around to find one that would cover it with $0 deductible and no prior policy. If you happen to live in Colorado I can set you up with a great guy here.

The information in this thread is accurate.  I purchased a Personal Articles Policy (PAP) from SF.  It covers your Mavick like it was a camera (a flying one) or jewelry.  My agent asked for serial number and receipt for the purchase.  Covers theft, damage (or cover to repair) and complete loss.  

I have read that California residents are unable to get a PAP through SF.  That is the only limitation I am aware of.......
