So, I've been "stretching my legs" with the Mavic, and today I flew a mile out and a mile back without any issue.
The video:
At 1 mile out, I had full signal, and was able to make 2 more trips to the same distance before I got to 30% battery, which happened about 2 minutes AFTER my last trip.
Winds were 5mph at ground level and probably 12 or 14 at 399.999 feet.
Return was in sport mode, because I wanted to race that red car.
I'm lucky because I have a few friends in my neighborhood, and we all happen to live in a straight line. Next time I plan to make it to the next stop, which will be 1.8 miles from the home point.
P.S. I am not yet a cinematographer, simply a camera man with wings.
Believe it or not I had line of site for 90% of this, perfect conditions for visibility this evening. But if I had taken my eye off for a second I definitely would have lost the blinking green light.
Let me guess, Florida. How do I know, not because of the palm trees but everything looks ghetto and thats not a knock on your neighborhood almost every where in florida looks like that lol.

The flat landscape is also a big clue; there are few places in the U.S. that are both flat (which is handy for flying) as well as being so lush and green. I'm guessing southeastern (Miami / Ft. Lauderdale)?
