Due to the manner in which we wish to use a vision plus, is it possible to take the FPV / Video and allow it to be streamed live via the internet, to allow others to view the video real time? What equipment is needed if this is possible?
Hmm, the bandwidth of the video link on a Phantom isn't really up to that. It could probably be done but not in aything like HD.
For stuff like that you really need a more versitile platform such as an S900, S1000 or one of the other, larger birds that can carry an assortment of specialised gear to meet your requirments.
I should also mention that if you are not aware of the requirments for use of a UAV in a commercial situation (as it sounds like this is what you will be doing) you should make sure you are before you go buying equipment.
Forgot to mention. this only would work if you are using a Iphone or an ipad with cellular service enabled... The latest Vision app allows you to conect to the phantom wifi while still being able to use your regular cellphone service..
Ok, I stand corrected. I'm surprised the downlink has the bandwidth to pull that off. I still think that if that is the main reason you are buying a UAV there are better birds for the job.
You may be able to stream 1080 but you would be limited to the vision app if you are streaming from your ipad/iphone so realistically you will get a 640x480 30fps video feed.
Well the OP is just want to stream what he is seeing on his phone/ipad/tablet or whatever he uses to FPV/Vision App.. Using the method i explained above he can share live what he sees on his vision app with an unlimited ammount of people, who i guess will be using other devices such as phones and tablets to watch the live stream... Unless he is looking to share his FPV on a 60" Screen TV.. then he will need something better.
To give additional info, yes the desire is to send the video from a iPhone or Pad. If additional equipment is needed to send the info once received to the device that would not be an issue, of course that does not mean unlimited funds.
And yes this would likely come under Commercial use as we are a security looking to do some proof of concept work before we delve further into UAV usage. We are up to speed on the Policies currently in place and we are able to do this with in the current policies.
If you have a budget you can look into getting a teradek and gopro camera. We use a few at our work for wireless camera work with our sony EX3's. It's what they used when they introduced the dji inspire to get a live feed back to the screen. Might be overkill for what your doing but it's good to keep in your back pocket in case things take off and you get some extra money to play with
Correct. That looks like a good way to do it, never ran across that app before but i think i'll try it. Just wanted to make sure the OP knew how it worked.

Oke, I always ask if folk are aware of the rules as a surprising amount have not done their homework on the matter.
Now it appears I was correct and 640x480 is all you will get out of the stock Phantom feed. I doubt that is enough for what yuo want. to do as you will need clarity of image. Your main problem is going to be endurence. A vision + is going to give you around 12 to 14 minutes max with a bit of reserve and if you start adding bits this will drop further. IMO the Phantom is just not the drone for the use. To get a bird with decent endurence you are looking at 8 or 9k but it may well do for your proof of concept testing at least.
The other issue with a quad is redundency/safety. A quad can't sustain the loss of a motor where a six or eight rotor bird can and if you are using the craft anywhere a downed bird could be a safety risk this is an issue you need to consider.
I stream directly from my iPad using REFLECTOR, which sends iPad or iPhone screen content in realtime to ScreenCast TV and/or any Android device, Mac or Windows Laptop (or Desktop PC with WiFi card).
You connect your iPad to Phantom WiFi as usual. Then connect other devices to the same Phantom WiFi network and launch REFLECTOR plugin. Finally in your main iPad / iPhone activate "AirPlay" feature (Bottom Panel), selecting every device from the list. If your targets PCs are connected to internet using a second network card (ie. wire) you can easily send a Webcast stream or simply record all session (great).
You can try REFLECTOR for free (8 days).
