Hi all,after updating to 500 rth is not working as it should,when turned on it rises to the correct height but after it starts to return the drone keeps stopping and starting on its return to home journey,anyone else having this issue ?

The drone keeps stopping and starting, if this happened your Aircraft would drop out of the sky, also you have set your RTH at 500 feet I assume, this is 100foot higher than the legal limit for flying..

hi you if you reed my post it says that i have updated to firmware version 500 thats when the trouble started with return to home,i was only 100 ft up,

I believe @bomberuk was referring to firmware ....0500 (ie. v01.03.0500) not the flight altitude.

@bomberuk, that behavior is most often caused by the Mavic falsely detecting an obstacle while flying towards the sun low in the sky. Was that the case?

Apologies but I think you could be a bit clearer when posting, you also said your drone keeps stopping and starting, this was also unclear.
Now that that is clear it could be as Jason says, but usually if this happens you will get obstacle avoidance warning first, if you have your RTH set to ascend when this happens that's what your AC might be doing.

My RTH height is set to 25 meters and every time it works flawlessly. Your RTH height might be to high and then the sun confuses it just like Jason said...

i have it set to 40m its strange because it worked great before

also does it with obstacle avoidance turned off all starting happening after update 500 so reverted back to 400 and it still does it.

There's a separate option to disable OA for RTH. If you didn't disable that, OA will still function even if you disable it with the main switch. Did you have OA for RTH disabled under Advanced Vision Settings?

And can you confirm if it was even facing a low sun at the time? If not, then there may be some other issue.

25 feet is verrrrry low. unless you are flying in a filed with NO trees. RTH height doesn't affect the return.
I have mine set to 100m. Better be safe than sorry!

And yes, I fly in a big open field with low trees. When I fly with a place with trees it is set to about 50 meters (sometimes more sometimes less) but most of the time I fly in big open areas

no i didn't disable the rth avoidance sensors,i have done now and will test tomorrow.

It will do this if you are flying into the sun. It thinks the sun is an obstable.
