Good Day, Mindy...James here.
This past weekend I scored a coup by securing the purchase of a 'new' Inspire 1, version 1.0 (or so I suspect). The chap from whom I bought the UAV had purchased it as a basis for starting a commercial UAS/RPAS business which, unfortunately, never got off the ground (pun intended).
Hello again, Mindy,
Thank you for your prompt, positive response to my request for a serial number check on the second-hand Inspire 1 I recently purchased.
I understand from your research that my 'new' Inspire 1 was activated 25 January this year. I further understand that your research indicated that the UAV is covered under DJI Care.
Following the URL you provided, I entered the aircraft's serial number, then hit "Enter." The response I received was "serial number has no DJI Care record."
I then clicked on the DJI Care Refresh Home Page. I quickly discovered that the Inspire 1 is NOT listed as an aircraft eligible for coverage under DJI Care.
Question #1: Since your research indicates that DJI Care has supposedly been purchased for this aircraft, serial number W13DBL09010137, yet I cannot verify said DJI Care, might the Care package have been purchased when the original owner bought the aircraft way back when, and it has since expired?
Question #2: I understand from researching the forum that once an aircraft has been activated its registration cannot be transferred to a secondary owner. Is that the reason why, having downloaded and installed the Android version of 'DJI Go App Before P4' and logging in under my recently-created DJI username, that I cannot get the app to recognize the Inspire 1's master controller? Thus far I have downloaded the app as above onto 3 separate Android devices, two of which are listed as being DJI Go app compatible and have yet to see anything but "disconnected" on the devices' screens when connecting the bound-to-the-aircraft (green LED) controller to the device via several different USB cables, all of which work fine.
Bottom line: I'm not overly concerned about branding the Inspire 1 as 'mine' with respect to DJI. I simply wish to get to the point where I can actually operate the UAV as per is design, that is to say, via a mobile device which will allow me to monitor the camera feed, record video, and snap still photographs.
Note: the 'bound' master controller, without a Go app device connected, appears to be working correctly re controlling the UAV's camera, starting the motors (without the props; I don't plan on flying the unit until I can monitor it via a device + Go app).
My apologies for possibly asking basic questions which may have been answered elsewhere on the Forum's threads. Suffice it to say that I've spent several hours perusing/searching the Forum and, though I've educated myself on several useful Inspire 1-based topics, remain unclear about what I can expect by way of being able to operate/update, or not, a previously owned and activated Inspire 1.
Any further information you can provide will be greatly appreciated,
James |
