So, I recently visited the B&H online store, the retailer I purchased my Inspire 1 V2 from, and their web site says the product has been discontinued? I went to a few other drone retailer web sites, and found other DJI Inspire 1 models that claimed to be discontinued. Did I just buy a product that is already on its way out?

I just looked at the DJI website:
Inspire 1 Pro  Sorry, this item is currently out of stock.
Says nothing about being discontinued.

Strange.
If you click on the option to order one without remote it shows 6-8 weeks delivery time.
Must be a FUBAR.

Since DJI just came out with the Inspire 2, the Inspire 1 is no longer being manufactured. This unit has been out for some time, and there are still plenty of parts in order to support repair services or anything to that effect. Support for the Inspire 1 in general will still be there for some time.

I just bought the I 2 and am a little concerned about the longevity of the product. does dji continue to manufacture batteries for models that are no longer in production?

I had never considered the fact that i may have to stockpile batteries if they stop producing them.  also, if I do need to buy some extra batteries, can they be stored unused on the shelf indefinitely?

I highly doubt it.
