I thought that but I think Jason cannot start his own thread so has just added on here as he lost one too. My assumption is two different people from the information and style of posting.

The phantom help log is not from Jason or the OP it's a third person it seems

I'm sorry for your loss. If it's actually stolen and not found, post #2 is possible. If it was found, then perhaps they will be good samaritans and return it. Could you happen to clarify how it was lost?

RC Signal was lost as I was landing - screen on DJI app went black - looked up at drone and it appeared to be drifting away from visible sights - as if someone else was controlling the thing - never had this problem before - went around the building to see if it was visible from that side - nothing...

The last signal was returning to home. If your home point was on the sidewalk then it will not necessarily have landed precisely there. There is a margin of error on where it lands when it returns home automatically.

It could have landed on the street, but if it landed a few feet north of takeoff point then it could also have landed on the roof above the sidewalk

Pretty sure it hit something and dropped on a roof somewhere - because i did not see it go back towards home point.

Well everybody, two weeks later (maybe more) I HAVE FOUND THE LOST DRONE!!!!!!

I bought the new Mavic Pro & flew it above the buildings where I lost the Phantom - and it is just sitting up there all lonely!

Good to see you were able to find it, hopefully retrieval will be easier. If it has not incurred any water damage, you can send it in to DJI to have the logs further evaluated and potentially covered under warranty.

Another thought is the Home Point may have had the offset and it is sitting on that roof  between Han Dynasty and Ernesto Jewelry.

Have you been able to retrieve it?  Also maybe some flowers for the people you thought had taken your drone? Free drone lessons? lol

Brilliant well found

I was able to contact someone that is selling an apartment in the building and schedule for me to pick up my drone =)

There was a snowstorm recently here in New York and it was stuck up there during the whole thing, but I will see how the condition of the drone is! Seeing that the battery is missing, which means it wasn't powered on, maybe none of the cables got too much water damage. Will keep you all updated!!!!!!

Impact with something.  Looks like it's hit part of the building and bounced around a little.

I think its on the building where the last red arrow is. Maybe on someones balcony? or roof?

I think you are correct in your assumption

Taking off where you did led to some compass errors and flight issues too as you would have been well aware, this is down to prob rebar or metal railings or cars etc

I give up ion you. Flying in that same vicinity.

You learned nothing from the previous encounter.

That building is a lot higher than 30 meters!  it sure aint on it. Rather more like into it. Lots of compass and yaw errors. Should never have flown that area. Sorry.
