I want to put a larger capacity  class 10 sd card in my p3s upgrading fron the shipped card do i hve to do anything or can i just pop it in...

You can just buy a SD card, put it into the aircraft and use the DJI Go App to format the card, then you should be good to go. I would recommend a 32 GB card from Sandisk, such as a Sandisk Extreme, they are guaranteed to work correctly.

I'm using a Sandisk 64 GB Extreme Pro, take it out of the package and insert into the camera, ready to go.

I would recommend to have as an example: 2 separate 32-gb cards instead of 1 standalone 64-gb card. That way if you lose your drone or memory card, you won't have lost all of your media on one card!

I did not purchase mine so much for the capacity as I did the speed of the card.  Sandisk says the card I have is good for 95 MB/s.

Personal choice, jmho.

And a good one at that. I have been using Sandisk Extreme cards for years now and they have always worked perfectly.

It might be ... but your Phantom isn't.
Your Phantom writes at around 15 MB/s regardless of your super fast card.
