If you belong to an RC flying club, you can fly the way you wish, while on private property.

www.ercha.ca is our local club.  Well worth the effort.

Thank those who have been flying irresponsibly for the new rules. Once again a minority ruins things for the majority.

90m altitude is workable but "Within 75 metres of buildings, vehicles, vessels, animals or people." makes things difficult along with "Within nine kilometres of somewhere aircraft take off" considering that there are lots of Helicopter landing sites and many small landing strips which are used infrequently. Keeping 9km away from these aerodromes will be a problem (zoom in on the map) in any populated area.

Wow... talk about restrictive...

Especially "Within 75 metres of buildings, vehicles, vessels, animals or people."

Or even the "More than 500 metres away from the user."

And even the "Higher than 90 metres." is 100ft less than the US rules.

I might as well post the rules:

"The rules, which are effective immediately, mean recreational users will face a fine of up to $3,000 if drones weighing more than 250 grams are caught flying:

Higher than 90 metres.
Within 75 metres of buildings, vehicles, vessels, animals or people.
More than 500 metres away from the user.
At night, in clouds or somewhere you can't see it.
Within nine kilometres of somewhere aircraft take off or land, or a forest fire.
Without your name, address and phone number marked on the drone itself.
Over forest fires, emergency response scenes or controlled airspace."

Wow. That is way to restrictive. I wonder what specific event happened to prompted Canada to make these rules.

Probably not a single infraction, but multiple rules broken, over the last couple of years.

It all adds up to bad news for the rest of us....

Canada wants drone operators to follow the Model Association to find club land to fly at. I bet that racing drones blew it for Canadians. Racing drones are flown for sport, unlike our Phantoms which are relatively slow, flying cameras meant to get video of interesting things and places.
