Land of the Free is an oxymoron I do believe.  Maybe Land of the Sorta Free, and pay us for your drone permit too or else.

So now the RCMP are coming after you.  More laws = More revenue.

Yup, you said it. Just what we need more laws to make criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens.

Give it a month or so for the hype to die down.... The police have far more important things to do than trying to catch Joe the Dad and his kid flying a drone in a empty soccer field on a Sunday afternoon.

Now you know how shooters have felt for years:

And just like gun laws this is emotionally driven BS, not based on facts or logic but fear and written by people who have no idea what they are talking about.

This law, as it is written, basically bans all drones (and all other flying RCs) in Canada as there is no way to comply with all the provisions anywhere in the entire country.

I am in Halifax and just got range extending antenna's and am cranky about the new law. I did want to point out however "land of the free" isn't a Canadian thing, its a line in America's National anthem. In Canada we are "strong and free".. well we were anyway.

It seems that, for whatever reason,  your Transport Minister is pretty much  determined to stop all recreational flying of drones in Canada.  The way it's worded, it appears you couldn't  even fly on your own farm because you're likely to get withn 75m of a grazing cow or sheep. It's an interesting move by the Canadian government. Australia actually went in the opposite direction last year and relaxed drone laws, especially for drones weighing less than 2KG. It is now even possible here to fly a sub 2KG drone commercially provided you advise CASA (like the FAA) before your first commercial flight.  We now have a good balance between safety/privacy and drone operation although there are always those who choose to act like idiots and their actions could ultimately result in tightening of our current regulations.    I hope that, for the sake of drone enthusiasts, the Canadian government will realise that it has gone too far and relax its new regulations.

Here is how to make sure this is not a hoax.
https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilav ... nt-report-form.html

Report your own drone!  Tell them its sitting there battery removed and not flying!

With current rules, there is not much of a chance it will be in the future......
But we have this link and if everyone reports......it does keep them busy.
And   maybe prove that the Canadian Government has managed to make a website that is useless, and uses your tax dollars to fund.
