KRG ....... Bit of a sensitive area for drone flying ....

You'll have to do as the App says and contact DJI to release the lock on the area for your DJi Go app.

If you were keen to fly and were confident in Atti mode that should get around the restriction. How do you go traveling from Sweden to Kurdistan/Iraq and back with a UAV. I would imagine you may run into the occasional security hurdle.

Like solentlife mentioned, you would need to contact flysafe@dji.com to see if you can get approval for flying in that area.

'If you were keen to fly and were confident in Atti mode that should get around the restriction.'

It does not get around the restriction unless you nobble the GPS reception on the aircraft.

Perhaps the op got through because the Maverick missile wasn't strapped to the Phantom's legs at the time... ;-)

Otherwise a very good question.

That sucks!

How are you supposed to make bacon out of those ISIS pigs if you can't fly over them?

Litchi will allow flight as it does not have the limitations like Go.

I thought GPS was nobbled in Atti but upon re reading the manual I observe that the height restriction is still operational and I guess if your height is restricted to zero then your Phantom isn't going to make it off the ground.

Areas like Iraq have restriction zones due to modified DJI drones with bombs attached.  Do not fly in war torn areas..You might get in a whole lot of trouble between the waring facions or worse.

I may be wrong but I thought altitude was registered by the barometer with reference to the Home Point and not GPS.

GPS is still active in ATTI mode as the location appears in the flight logs. It is used for navigation when in P-GPS mode.

All that ATTI mode does is disconnect the GPS position stabilisation system, the GPS is still working and is still used to work out where the aircraft is located on the face of the planet. Therefore it still knows whether it is inside an NFZ. The height restriction is a seperate issue, as height is measured by the on-board barometer, not the GPS system. It is possible to nobble the GPS by placing aluminium foil on the top of the aircraqft to block GPS reception.
