I am about ready to buy a Mavic Pro. I've had my P2V+ for about 2-1/2 years, and now its Wi-Fi has failed - a common problem with my model. For this entire time, the recommended number minimum satellites to fly with has been 6. I have often flown with the minimum, and have never had a problem. I've read in some posts where commenters are saying that flying with 7-8 satellites is risky. Does the Mavic Pro require more than a Phantom? What is the recommended minimum?

Thanks in advance.

I fly on older firmware and it needs 8. I don't know if they've lowered this or not on newer firmwares.

I believe the mavic receives more satellites, as it has gps and glonass. usually I never get less than 10 (aside from the first few seconds)

Really for safe flying with the Mavic above 9 I would recommend.

Number of satellites by itself does not determine flight readiness - GPSHealth does.  It has to be 4 or more.  Number of satellites contributes to health, but more importantly is satellite orientation and signal-to-noise ratio.  You can have a good 3D fix with only 4 satellites that have good orientation to you.  We do not know all of the things that go into DJI's calculation of GPSHealth, but number of satellites is only one.

When it says "Ready to Fly GPS" then you're good. It's usually about 8 satellites.
