First post so please be nice.

I'm looking to create some sort of RC drop mechanism for my P2V+ to deliver a small payload to a roof and film it. Has anyone tried making on of these/had any success?

You could make a hook mechanism which will release when you set the payload down on the roof and fly the Phantom off at an angle. This would probably be fairly easy to construct. Or you could use the seventh channel on the remote to activate a servo which would actually drop something. That would be a little more complicated to set up.
