I tried to fly today, the only time before I weekend of rain, and I had to update the software. Now it's raining, and I see a message that the connection has timed out getting the update. What's going on here? I need to turn off these updates so I don't get blind-sided again.

Sometimes it is easier to use your computer and update with DJI assistant 2. Connect your Mavic Pro with the supplied cable and then do your remote separately.... You should be happier and the updates will go much faster.

Please try to do the update via DJI Assistant.

Make sure if using your phone that the screen does not time out. That stops the whole process. I learned the hard way
