Hi Everyone
Recently I have been having an issue where my gimbal will randomly Pan full down and back up with seemingly no input when in the air and my C1 mapping does not appear to work in the air when selected.

I have the Camera down function mapped to both the C1 and now the 5D UP button for testing. On the ground both buttons do what they are supposed to do and pan the camera down and back up fully. This works over and over.

In the air I have noticed that most of the time if I press my C1 button it does nothing. The camera does not move or do anything. And then randomly during flight the gimbal will start panning down and back up again. It is almost as if there is a very delay with the C1 button when I am up in the air. It appears to be minutes after I have tried pressing the C1 button that my gimbal starts freaking out. I can hear a beep on my phone after every press and it works fine on the ground when the Mavic is initially powered up.

Interestingly enough the 5D button appears to work fine for this function both in the air and on the ground.

In my testing I was 50m up with a clear line of sight in an open field, winds were light. I have performed a gimbal calibration, along with a compass and IMU calibration with no luck .

I am currently running the most recent firmware and I am using DJO GO 4 on a SamsungNote 3

If anyone might have some insight into what could be causing this I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks!

Chris

That is strange that you get instance response on the ground but not in the air.
Are all the other controls working instantly, like photos/videos and others.
If you map C1 to any of the other selections does it work while flying?

Hi DJI-Ken

Thank you for your reply!
All other controls including picture and video controls appears to be working normally in the air.
I have tried other mappings on the C1 button and they all work fine on the ground.  Currently we have a few days of rainy weather here in southern Ontario but as soon as it clears up I will try it again in the air.

Initially I had suspected it had something to do with the recent DJIGO4 app update.  I notice now that the auto focus will randomly focus on it's own without having to tap to focus.  I had suspected that i might have selected my C1 function while the camera was actively focusing.  If the auto focus got stuck for some reason maybe the camera down function would be delayed because of that?

Do you know of a way to turn off the continuous auto focus feature, and go back to just tap to focus.
If i remember correctly i only have two options , continuous auto focus and manual focus.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi DJI-Ken

Thank you for your reply!

Have you also tried to sync your flight records then delete/reinstall the GO4 app to see if it persists?
Let me know when you fly if all the other C1 features act the same or not.
And yes the two options to focus are what you said.

Hi Ken

I have not uninstalled the GO App yet.  When I get home I will factory reset my phone and reinstall the app. The phone I am using is only used with my magic so starting with a clean slate is not a big deal and might rule out any potential issues with the phone.

As soon as I can fly again I will update this thread with my results.

Thanks

OK, sounds good thanks.
Hopefully that resolves it.

Hi Ken

I had a chance to do some testing this weekend. After doing a factory reset on my galaxy note 3 and reinstalling DJI Go4 my first flight was without issue and the problem appeared resolved.  On my second flight I was running into the same issue again with both C1 and C2 function buttons working fine initially but having issues when in the air after a few minutes.  This was happening for all functions not just gimbal down this time.

I went out and purchased an Ipad Mini 4 this weekend. Flying with the Ipad I have no issues at all. All functions work fine and there is very little delay.  So I guess the issue was with my phone.

Thank you very much for your help!

I wonder if there might be a little incompatibility issue with that phone.  DJI doesn't seem to be very kind to the devices, loading them heavily at times.  Just throwing out ideas.

Ok great, glad you got a device with more processing power.
You shouldn't have any issues at all now.
