I posted this in regional a week ago but received no replies so am reposting here hoping to get an answer.

I  am trying to start a small agricultural drone business and need to find  a Canadian Insurance company that will sell me a reasonable amount of  insurance.  My requirements are a minimum of $100,000 but the companies I  talked to want to sell a minimum of $1,000,000 and one a minimum of  $2.5 million!  Not sure any of the local cows are worth $2.5 million!  LOL!  Anyways, if anyone has found a decent company, I'd appreciate  hearing about it.  Thank you.

$100,000 is an extemely low amount of liability insurance for a company.  The minimum is generally $1,000,000.  I can't imagine writing around that as the premiums wouldn't be worth it.  Find an agent though, they can generally get you lower coverage amounts than you can get going right to the company.

Thanks method007.  I've tried 2 agents and both have acted like they had no idea.  And true about the coverage.  By Transport Canada's rules it's minimum $100,000.  Or it used to be.  Maybe with the new regs it might have changed.  Thanks for the advice.

My suggestion is that you don't bring up the part about drones and pursue straight business liability.  When the underwriter asks you for details about your company, then tell them about the drones.  Until then, pursue liability for your photography business only.
