Which is better of the two and why?

Is it a phantom 4 with the pro camera attached ? My P4 was a very reliable bit of kit

I think the only difference is the P4P has dual wi-fi frequencies 2.4 and 5.8, whilst the P4A does not.

Define "better" and you might get some more accurate answers (once users have actually tried the newer product). Based on (my assumption of) specs though, I cannot see why the Advanced would be better than the Pro aside from having a lower price.

The term "better" is really dependent on the user and their needs. Here is the Specs and FAQ page for the P4A:

The FAQ does compare the P4P vs the P4A along with the P4 vs P4A. A lot of the "enhances" that are mentioned come when comparing the P4 to the P4A. When comparing the P4P to the P4A, it's really comes down to how many "bells and whistles" do you want? The P4A takes out the side and backwards sensors, but the forward and downward sensors are the same between it and the P4P. Because those are missing, some of the intelligent flight modes that required those sensors were removed. This in turn reduced the price point. The P4A's "Plus" RC will act the same as the P4P's version, minus the 5.8 GHz frequency.

And just to add to Jamie's post, he mentions that due to sensors being the same as the P4 (i.e no rear and side) some intelligent flight modes therefore aren't available. An example of this is TapFly Backwards.

Another of note is that DJI are using the new lighter shell (as on the P4P) for it. So it isn't quite a P4 with advanced camera strapped on...
