I don't want to start a side debate about the pros/cons of nuclear electricity, but I just have to said I would be much more concerned living close to a coal power plant (and you might have one close to you) than living close to a nuclear.
Facts:
-Coal burning subproducts are radioactive too and you breathe them.
-Background radiation in the surroundings of a nuclear plant are lower than on the surroundings of a coal plant.
-Cancer (specially lung cancer) happens more often on people living close to a coal power plant.
-No relation has been found between cancer and living close to a nuclear power plant.
-If a nuclear power plant blows up, it doesn't really matter if you're close or not.
By the way, the one on the video was never completely built, so... no radiation there (other than the natural background radiation) |
