I used Google Earth to spot and rehearse a potential shot, tried out a few angles and elevations, then drove/walked there and shot it. Turned out pretty well.

[except that, to make it a really nice photo, I need to go there and shoot it again in a few weeks once the grass is greener!]

I shot this from 120m above take-off, and the take-off point was about 75m above the main reservoir (on the track leading down towards it), so Google earth eye altitude (ASL) doesn't quite reconcile with this but is pretty close.

I quite like views of groups of reservoirs in one shot, gives more interest than just single ground feature, and there are several such opportunities near where I live!
