Why can we silence critical battery beeping but not RTH?

RTH Beeping is very annoying.  Simple solution turn the remote off.   Then hope it stays on course!

Deep cleansing breath.

This thread has too much angst.

the problem with forums is people have a lot of "UNHELPFUL"  OPINIONS and VERY LITTLE HELPFUL "FACTS"
pity they aren't subject to verification anybody posting "misleading" info gets kicked off etc.

so prove it have "evidence" before you post it

just a thought
( I could save hours, days months trawling through unhelpful crap posted by idiots )

OMG, if I could have that also, I would be in heaven.

To all who have discussed this incredible loud beep: NO, you should not use RTH but fly the drone home yourself (but 80 % of users just push RTH) and NO, you shouldn't fly over people or homes or roads but that doesn't matter a bit as the beep is so freaking loud that it hurts my ears, also when I'm in the middle of nowhere.
DJI, if you can not or do not want to give us the choice to switch off the RTH-beep, at least give us a sound that is less loud. This level of sound is just dangerous for your ears.

The sound is a warning to you and others around you that there is an aircraft not under your control about to land, if you had the option to switch off beeping how would others around you be aware that something which may cause harm to them is about to happen.
The reality is you have absolute control over the beeping, if you just cancel RTH beeping will stop, you are now in full control of aircraft no need for beeping.
If aircraft is landing because of critical battery or RTH because of low battery or if you have lost sight or orientation of aircraft, then you and people around need to be aware until it lands that you are no longer in control of aircraft.
So always remember if you press RTH it is you causing the aircraft to beep and it's you who can stop the beeping.

Hallmark,

You keep repeating the well-known arguments and I don't necessarily disagree with that.
I happen to be an MD and I can tell you the sound is dangerous for your ears it's just too high and too strong. So make it at least bit softer to the ears.

One more point: if that very loud sound is so absolutely necessary for the safety of everybody than why don't I have it on my Phantom 3 Advanced, my Phantom4  and my Phantom 4 Pro ?

It's on my p4p ,  I expect you don't have it on other aircraft because it's a new safety feature and dji are continually improving safety in their drones.
Do you think we should lower the decibel of ambulance ,fire brigade ,police siren, or are these designed so people can hear them.
As I said it's the pilot who is in charge of the beeping it's he who can make it start or stop. But if he is no longer able for whatever reason he maybe Ill incapacitated, who knows or just lost control because of lack of experience and if this is the case then in the interest of safety to joe public the beeping should 100% stay.
I'm not to sure why you feel the need to tell me your an MD, but that's great..

Rest assured, I don't feel any needs, at least not ones that are not already fulfilled. I mentioned the MD-thing because I actually let my colleagues Ear-Nose-Throat-specialists test the sound and they concluded that repetitive or long exposure to this sound can cause harm to the inner ear.
I"m surprised you 'have it on your P4P' because I do not, not with the latest firmware and any sound there comes from my iPad and I can silence it.

You still continue to avoid what's important here.
1/ you have a choice beep or no beep so this cannot be a problem

2/ is beeping necessary when pilot is no longer in control of aircraft.

I don't avoid anything and certainly nothing important.
I think that we best agree to disagree on this.
The store where I bought my Mavic offered to modify the RC and half the decibels of the sound (and that's really all I want, nothing more nothing less) or take back the Mavic with a full refund.
I'll see what I will do.

I like the beep. It let's me know if there's a newb around me who too lazy or incompetent to fly home on his own or if there's a pilot that is actually in a situation that warrants using it. Come on people what's so freaking hard about flying it home on your own with no beeps?

^^ Best response yet

I wonder if the heart monitor in his office has a mute button ? That annoying flatline tone has got to be annoying as heck .

Maybe you're back home after 20 minutes, but I'm still flying.  Not only the RTH  makes it beep, also the 30% battery warning is!

If anything put the beeping Alarm on the Drone.  That is where the DANGER is.  In fact I know how a certain subset always talks about beeping alarms need on trucks.  Maybe the Drone should have a beeping that is always on when it is in the air to make sure people know that a drone is flying and were to look at the drone.  The would be the safe thing to do.  But having an Alarm like that in a controller is ludacris.   The danger is not in the controller it is in the 8 whirling knives of death over your head.

Since the day I bought my Mavic Pro, I've thought the beeping for low battery and RTM was obnoxious and unnecessary. Just WAY too loud.

It's a piezo device and I highly suspect there's no way for DJI to electronically control the volume of it, so the only option is on/off.

For those of you who like the idea of the BEEP, no one is asking it be removed. Feel free to BEEP on!

The vast majority of the rest of us are simply asking that we have an option to acknowledge the "alert" (either low battery or RTM) once it starts BEEPING, and then be able to mute with whatever "warning" DJI wants to get us to acknowledge to do so.  That's it.
