I bought a brand new Mavic Pro from a guy that won it in an online contest. He unfortunately could not provide me any proof of purchase.

Therefore, does the warranty coverage work with the Mavic (with the serial number) or DJI will require a proof of purchase anyway if anything happens with the drone ?

Unfortunately, no proof of purchase, no warranty.
The price you paid the guy should have reflected that.
On the plus side, I have had my Mavic since November and have had zero problems.

Thats a bummer, Id think the warranty would be able to be traced from the S/N.

Do you have original packaging? I bought mine from an apple employee (family member) as Apple ran a promotion for employees that was 25% off. When I had warranty work done I just sent them a picture of the original packaging as I never had any receipt. Mine was repaired under warranty no questions asked.
