4700m out, loses signal, Inspire 1 starts to head back and almost hits a little ass island.  Had to laugh a little about that.  He should have increased the height in the return home to at least 30m to avoid it.  Very important for everyone to set altitude for return home above the highest part of the operation area.

Brilliant job, the guy has balls. Not sure I would try this myself. Nice to see it does what it says on the tin. He seemed pretty relaxed throughout the flight, even when he lost all control.

And just think..... If he had any idea what he was doing when it came to rf emissions from a simple dipole antenna he wouldn't have wasted all that EIRP into the sand, pointed his antennas skyward and got even further!!!!!

Now that is a promo!Wow!Gotta admit I have been highly skeptical of this product since the live launch.Although skeptical.. still open minded enough to see how well it fares after it's first summer.Let all of the wrinkles get ironed out.Still love my P2 but after seeing that I find myself more than willing to give the I1 a shot.Better sensibility tells me to stick to my guns for now.I have been watching this forum daily.Looks to me that the only issue keeping this machine from reaching it's full potential is software bugs.Time heals all wounds.DJI has come this far.I feel confident that they will achieve software stability. My P2 had issues at the beginning.Solid as a rock now.Systems on I1 are more sophisticated.Just means that it will take a little more time to achieve buttpukker free turnkey duty.Kudos to the I1 pilots that have already stepped into the chasm. It is through your financial struggle, rock solid resolve, and devotion to your passion that in the end the hobby as whole, not only photographers will benefit.Back to that badass display of the I1's perfomance. In order to keep my bank account happy with me....I must go take a cold shower.

I can imagine that he'll be cleaning sand out of the worm drive for a while after landing on sand.

"Most joyful that....F**K!!!"

That was fantastic!

This range blows my mind.  Yes, it's well out of visible sight by the rules but at least he's not in a crowded city.  I'm sure those fisherman are probably suffering from a little bit of confusion, though.

Amazing cahones on this kid to go that far out and over water!

If this is legit: it's a case of RF Surface-Ducting The reason he was able to get such range was because the water acts as a wave-guide/reflector. That's why he flew at low altitude/close to the water.

Markka cobs....can you clarify the best way to orient the antennas to get max range.  I have read that they should be pointer towards, the sky perpendicular to the ground.  I read somewhere else that the max power comes straight out of the top points and they should be pointed towards the bird.
Any advice.

Please, please, PLEASE do not take any notice of this idiot on YouTube who really does not know what he is talking about.
Firstly, this test is worthless - The amount of multipath bouncing around that room means any received rf at the given frequency could be coming from the walls, the floor or the mop handle leaning against the wall !
Secondly - the test should be done either in an rf screened anechoic chamber or at the very least an open field location away from spurious rf emmissions.
Thirdly - The test should be done with a tablet in place in the holder since that is how the device will be used in the real world.

Antennas straight up guys, to give maximum rss and best cross sectional area from TX to Inspire.

Hey Mark, you again!

Assuming that his "test" is not faked, why not take notice of him? I agree with your arguments (at least some of them ), but you are talking about theory. The "idiot" shows one real scenario. Again: Assuming his "test" has not been faked.
