That last couple time I've flown my P3S,  It has taken about 2 minutes for the warmup period before I get the "GPS Ready To Fly" status.  All flights were taken off from the same location that I originally calibrated the compass.  Prior to the last couple times, I would get the ready to fly status within a couple seconds. Anyone know what I may be doing wrong. I am a newbee only having the P3S for a couple weeks.

Thank you

Has it been colder recently, taking longer to warm up, doesn't take much of a drop to increase the time quite a bit. I think doing a calibration in the cold will shorten warm up times, but there are reasons why they want to get up to a certain temp.

I get very nervous flying with a cold battery warning but having a lipo in my pants for 20 minutes is a pain sometimes

Thank you for your reply.  Mid to high 50s when flying but that is a bit cooler than it has been.

1-2 minutes is usual for mine, but on a chilly morning can be 3-4 minutes. If I'm in a heated car I try not to take it out and leave it standing to long.

See if the warm up time improves in slightly warmer temperatures. Just to clarify, are you seeing just a "warm up" status or "IMU initializing"?

I would say, then, just keep an eye on it along with the temperature, like Matt-and-Riley mentioned. Let us know if the "warm up" period continues to be longer than normal after a few more flights.

If the IMU calibration check says "Calibration not required", should I still perform the calibration?

I've never seen it say anything else! You can still do the calibration to reset all it's sensors and bits.

So I performed an IMU calibration indoors, at 70 degrees Fahrenheit and on a level surface.  When I flew this morning, warmup time was 30 to 45 seconds and it was also quite a bit cooler than it was yesterday so it appears the IMU calibration helped.
