Hello,

Today i was flying with my mavic, and suddenly, all motors stopped, and it drop from the sky (40m heigh). I was pushing both stick forward before it dropped. Battery was 79%, 12 gps, gps mode, 40 m height, 85m away and full in my sight. Just before it touched the ground, all the motors turned back on, but it was too late and now my mavic is completly destroyed. Can you tell me what happend ?

Sorry for your crash, use this link to start the RMA process. The flight data analysis team will analyze the flight data recorder to determine the cause.

There have been a handful of reports like this from other people where a spontaneous power loss occurred. Please upload the DAT file from the flight to DropBox and provide a link to it in this thread and someone can look into it.

In the meantime, can you also tell us:

  • Was the battery still attached to the aircraft after the crash?
  • What date is returned when you enter your Mavic's serial number here?

In at least some of those other cases DJI has determined it to be a warranty problem and replaced the aircraft free of charge. Good luck.

I had the exact same issue, or very similar anyway.  I updated, did a test flight, and all was well.  Turned the battery off, then on for the next flight.  Took off and all was well, until all of a sudden the aircraft began wobbling and falling.  I have already begun the repair process.  I own an S900 and a P3 Pro and am not a newbie.  Very concerned.

The DAT file is only available on the Mavic itself. I think you can count on DJI to do the right thing and act accordingly, but if you want people here to analyze what happened we'd really need that DAT file.

It is actually a DAT file.
You can run Viewer.exe in Assistant folder to open it.

However, you may need to learn how to use and understand it.

Can you explain the warnings you were getting in English, forgive my ignorance, also the end of your flight recorded on PH is just right before it dropped I think, and yes it does show you pushing throttle and elevation forward.

the warning were " tap to focus", "subject lost, unable to follow it, not able to identify it" and "unable to follow it, go closer and try again".

When i recoverd the craft, all leds were on, so still underpower. Unbelievable !

there is also an "altitude_00" drop at the same point. Is it a real error ?

How could I avoid that ? I had no indication about that

From your PH log it doesn't look like you did anything wrong, you had good signal good gps and no compass problem, but logs end very abruptly, and as lacyboy has pointed out problem with battery voltage, and I would suspect this also, but dji will make the final decision, I hope they decide in your favour.
Good luck.

Thought maybe a bad reading on the current, that happens, but look the voltage reading dropped a bit with it.. That happened early in the flight from the looks of it. At the end it shows him using a lot of power (both sticks up) probably resulted in the failure, close to 10 amps bet hardware fail. Probably get it sorted under warranty.

Yes, something strange definitely happened in the last second of your flight. As at least one person already pointed out, there were some drops in voltage late in the flight, but even more interesting is that the Electronic Speed Control (ESC) voltage on all four motors plummeted in the last second, which I believe is why your motors shut off. There's no obvious explanation for it since you clearly didn't initiate a CSC, so I believe this was caused by a product defect that will be covered under warranty. But again, the real expert on DAT file analysis is BudWalker and hopefully he'll weigh in on this too.

What I am thinking from recent Mavic dropped out of the sky reports, and look at this specific DAT file there might be a BAD batch of batteries.

You could be on to something!

Extra voltage for full forward and up puts big load on electronics which causes failure of power output resulting in threads like this hehe

Cheap fix if the batch can be identified, but how many crashes are waiting to happen?

This is the reply of BudWalker on mavicpilots forum (http://mavicpilots.com/threads/m ... troyed.17101/page-2) :

@smh FLY017 and FLY018 are the files for this incident. The end of FLY017 shows that there was an abrupt loss of power just like several other incidents lately. This can be seen by looking at the motorVolts data where the volts dropped from around 11.5 to around 6.3 at the very end.

FLY018 is the next .DAT. By looking at the eventLogs for both FLY017 and FLY018 it's possible to estimate that the gap between the end of FLY017 and the start of FLY018 is about 4 seconds. Different data starts being reported at different times after the recording starts. The motor data didn't start until about 9 seconds into FLY018 so the motor restart that you reported wasn't captured,

FLY018 is abnormal in that the battery data isn't being recorded.

It would appear that your P4P incident is a lot like what has been happening to some Mavics lately. There was an abrupt loss of power. This is best seen by looking at the motorVolts data which is sampled at 50 HZ. The battery data is sampled at 1 HZ and there is a 1.5 sec delay. At the very end of the recorded data the motorVolts dropped from about 15.5 volts to around 7.3 volts.
The .DAT you supplied seems to have been truncated. I had another FLY062.DAT that you had submitted under the name compo sometime around May 7. Not sure where I got that. Whenever I get the chance I acquire .DAT files for CsvView/DatCon development and testing.

He took off. Got about 15 meters high, and then Mavic dragged into the building.
I did not have time to do anything, as he collided with the building and fell.

It looks like your Mavic lost gps and you couldn't control it and it crashed, you gps seemed to be very low right on the limit if not lower.

There was more than one factor that contributed to this incident. The launch site was geomagnetically distorted which caused the Yaw value to be incorrect. GPS reception was also poor but didn't appear to be a significant factor. But, IMHO, the biggest problem is that that the Mavic didn't switch to ATTI mode when it should have. As a result the Mavic was in GPS_ATTI using an incorrect Yaw which then caused the erratic flight. If this had been a P3 the switch to ATTI would have been made and the pilot would have had a better chance at recovery.

At about 4.2 seconds and a relativeHeight 0f 0.3 Yaw and magYaw began to separate.  The separation got much worse at 12.4 secs and relativeHeight 26.8. The Mavic was in GPS_ATTI mode until 15 secs; that's 10 secs of GPS_ATTI with an incorrect Yaw. After the switch to ATTI at 15 secs the Mavic was responsive to stick inputs, but it was also drifting in the wind. This, and the previous erratic flight, probably made it appear the Mavic was unresponsive to stick inputs. Aileron and/or elevator inputs were applied in an attempt to fly the Mavic out of harms way, but they were too short to have enough effect.

From the accelerometer data (not shown) the impact with the wall occurred at 21 secs.

Thank you for the detailed answer. But I did not understand the most important thing:
I have a sense to send Mavic in warranty repair? Or is the incident entirely the driver's fault?
