Hi everyone, few weeks ago I sent in my Mavic for a repair after a crash. However, the battery case was broken pretty bad and I can see the silver lining and the pcb inside, probably the battery inside swollen too. So afraid it will catch fire, I bury it in sand near my house. Then, I got an email from the repair team with an invoice together with a note saying that no new battery will be given since no battery was sent. That is not really a problem since I already got a few spare batteries. So my question is, should I send in a broken battery in the future and how? Any extra precaution or wrapping? I just do not want to risk the life of people who will be handling it since battery can explode.

Funny part is, that they say on the website when you select the items you send, not to send damaged batteries...

It is not recommend to send a broken battery in, that is too dangerous, just provide a short video about the broken battery to us. Could you please leave me your case number so I can look into it?

Hi Thor, the case number is CAS-596071-T7L6R7 or CAS-591211-S8D9G8 (I got these two for the same case, same aircraft). Thank you.

Exactly, but later they told you, you won't get a replacement battery because you don't send the battery in. I do not want to be responsible if an UPS warehouse or truck catches fire.

I think it will be better if you show them the battery SN in the video. There is a SN at the bottom of the battery. No worries, they will let you know if they need more details.

I've sent a new case with a lengthy explanation about the battery and a link to the video yesterday. Today I got an UPS shipping label. I don't think they even read my long dissertation. I give up. Anyway, thank for your help Thor.

I wouldn't send the battery in, no matter what.  You could be responsible if something were to happen enroute.

You could use the same package system that Samsung used to retrieve the explosion prone Note 7, you will need probably a more robust package but the company that does it have them cataloged by battery ratings, I don't remember the brand but it's on YouTube on JerryRigsEverthing channel. The thing is that I personally would just dispose it following my local regulations and forget about it. Thumbs up to you for taking the time and precaution of not sending it in first place, and looking for a proper way to do it.

Do not worry, if you saw the video. No sane man will dare to ship a battery in that condition. I have no way to get the SN picture since I am away until next 2 weeks. I probably can get it from Airdata.

I did not have a picture of the drone but if I have to described it, the drone itself suffered only scratches. But the camera was totally blank when I connected it to my phone. Actually I lost my drone, I found the drone and the battery separately on a parking lot.
