In GS PRO on Ipad there is an altitude limit of 200m.

Why is it set to only 200 m, when you can fly up to 500m in DJI GO? Or am I missing something?

The altitude limit makes it useless for larger area mapping, because if you hang a good DSLR underneath the drone, you will get a mm GSD but it will take a lifetime to fly the mission.

Please set the limit to 500m.

200 meters is over 650 feet . Are you kidding ?   What sort of lens are you going to use that needs to be over 200 meters up ?

If you use a A7R ii with 50mm, you get  around 4.5 cm gsd at 500 m agl.

Nice camera, but there is no need to fly that high as well as you can not really see the aircraft at the height so you might have problem controlling it safely.

Very nice camera , lucky you. I am green with envy.
500m at 50mm focal lenght  sounds way too high.
I would have expected 50mm to put you at 120m.  I guess the 42MP full frame sensor must make some differance .

Obviously, those of you thinking 200 meters, or even 500 meters is high enough, aren't flying professionally under part 107. It is perfectly legal to fly 400 feet above any structure, antenna tower, bridge, cliff, , hill, mountain.  If the antenna etc is 2,000 feet high, you can fly to 2,400 feet as long as you remain within 400 feet horizontally. Several of the questions on the UAS pilot's license test relate to this scenario. DJI has arbitrarily set the 500 meter limit, and now a 200 meter one apparently.

500m = 1/2 a kilometer above ground level.
If you take off near the structure how many items are 500 meters plus high from there base?
An Inspire or Matrice is going to be very small 500 meters overhead.

yes your 100% correct, but you are getting now into another area of problems " the line of sight " or your eyes are that good :-) there are only two waivers granted at this time you might be one of them?

Well, still no answers from DJI ;(

I fly a Matrice M00 pro and belive me, you can see it very well. I need 300 meters and in my country it's within the height limit.

Even to fly higher, you can get a permission. Of course, handling everything with towers, VFR, Notams, etc...

DJI is just a money taking machine with no sensibility for the industry. They just don't care what people woud need. DJI targets the mass market and that's enough for them.

Luckyly every system can be cracked...

Did you get any reply or solution to fly above 200m using gsp?

Yes, I've got a reply per mail from a german DJI representative who said that the 200 m altitude limit is set due to regulations in different countries regarding flying automated missions.
I answered that in my country I, as a certified operator, can get the permission and why I should be hendicaped because of regulations in other countries.

But, like all DJI generic answers, he said he forwarded my request to DJI and "perhaps" they will remove it in some future versions of GS PRO.

Which, knowing DJI, is very unlikely or will happen in about 20 years...
