haha yes you are probably right. they will deliver one day before there 6 week deadline.
but from what I can see and read warrnaty work is slower than user error paid repair.

I may have spoken too soon!  Repair was completed 4/6 and as of 4/15 it STILL has not shipped!  Frustration is starting to set in and despair is right around the corner....mainly because the weather is so great and I want to be out flying.  Oh well.

tomorrow is exactly 6 weeks sense receiving my inspire and nothing called customer support and nothing was put on hold and disconnected.

I know things take time and I understand that. I would just like some better comunacation with 3,000 dollar unit

Well, I finally got my bird back today! Final timeline:

Delivered to DJI LA: 3/17
Checked in: 3/23  
Paid : 4/6
($116 for 3 white shocks)
Arrived: 4/22

Overall I am happy, they even replaced the little stickers on the feet so it looks brand new.  And while I wish they had better communication and faster service, I really just need the job DONE RIGHT.  It looks great and spins up just fine.  Keeping all things in perspective, I think they did a great job.  I am excited to get back in the air!

any updates from more recent people getting repairs.. I shipped mine back today for gimbal issue only but wanted whole thing shipped to them, delivery on Saturday 25th then clock starts for me.

Here is mine, sent in for the dreaded gimbal horizon off level problem. Tried everything 10 times and finally decided to send it in. Really sucks too because I'm going to Mendocino to abalone dive on the May 14-20. It really would have been nice to get some aerial from the I1 for a  video I plan on making about the group I'm going with.  
Delivered 4/13 (sent on the 6th- 2 day priority mail, what a joke...)

This shows my problem in detail. At the 2 minute mark, after manually adjusting to the far left (- button), I begin pressing the + button, but as you can see the gimbal twitches roll left, then gradually goes back right. I sent it back because although I could get it to stay level for one flight after 3+ minutes of tapping the manual adjustment on the screen, after powering down, I'd have to go through the process again. Iv'e heard enough people saying they didn't have to do anything hardly at all to keep theirs level to know something was wrong with mine. I did try every sequence of calibrations 10+ times to no avail.

That horizon you had in the video would be tough to calibrate off of with the mountains and tree lines.  Hopefully, they resolve you're issues. But don't be surprised if the horizon is not perfect when it returns.

I had the grid lines on and the lake is about as level as level gets.  I had also done the same manual adjustment on a level countertop with the grid lines on with the camera pointed at a level. Trust me, I tried everything.  Looking at other peoples videos, particularly those who recently got theirs back from a repair for the exact same problem where the horizon is spot on, it better be darn near to perfectly level! I didn't pay 3000$ for something that doesn't hold the camera level. I have several other gimbals, 2 for gopro, (1 yun-1 gimbal and 1 H3-2d), as well as a cinestar gimbal that I converted to brushless with an alexmos board for my GH4, and all of them work almost perfectly level. If I can do it then so can DJI...

think there is a correlation between an extended check in time and longer downtime.  I heard they been getting even more i1 in service (because of better weather, more flying = more crashing) and repair time is going to go up.  But they are also hiring more people. If that is the case what is going to go up to?  

TVMC - how did you have your accident with i1?

I was flying it for the first time everything going fine then upon going back up a second time after compass recalibration I was going forward and it just dropped out of the sky like it lost all power. I was in beginner mode still and luckily it was only 20 feet up could have been a lot worse. I contacted DJI and they just issued me an RMA to send it in so I turned to the forum and tahoe_ed helped me out. But in all I do not know exactly what happened other than they fixed it under warranty and no I did not CSC the i1 I read the manual and everything about it in the month and a half of waiting for my i1.  this is what it said in the email Upon inspection of your Inspire we were able to diagnose your issue as a damaged landing gear.

God that sucks you really haven't gotten to fly the thing.. I had gimbal bearing go bad over time (for 1 1/2 month owned it.. lol) and started to get stuck when did system check with gimbal at start up.  Mind you I hardly use gimbal except doing testing inside house and system check at start up.  This eventually lead to motor in left to right to fail in gimbal.  But I got about 11 hours of flight time in before this at least. I was just starting to get hang of the craft and get some good footage and gimbal went.  Once started having problems, motor went within week.  I think problem was there from beginning just got worst.

Awww.. ok.. yea looking at P3 or Solo now.. Heard doing a price cut $1900 for single controller in late May so didn't think wanted buy another at this point.

I don't know how true that is because I contacted them before i bought my second one and they helped me out but no discount ( shipped me one at the front of the line by contacting a us dealer and having me buy it from them.(  kinda funny   ) but not like that 900$ is a pretty big price cut unless it is the bare unit.... battery, controller, i1 and props no case, charger or camera for those who want just the i1 but I wanted the whole thing.

I hope that 900$ discount doesn't happen. I was surprised P3 got most features of i1. I think that was done to compete with Solo but I figure there will be some kind of discount in near future.  
Are you going to keep both once get your returned one?

Yes I was surprised to but the phantom 2 didn't drop that much so I don't think the i1 will ether until a new inspire but I don't think that will happen before new cameras come out and yes I will be keeping both of them as I am really liking the i1

Yea Boston, I know, 4-6 weeks is what they say, but tvmc had his in a solid month before mine and it took them 7 weeks. If they have been getting busier, and I know they have, I'll probably not see mine until mid June.

I received my inspire1 back from DJI today 4/29/15         That's 54 days without it because of a firmware update...
    Now I charged everything up and to try to fly it.    Guess what came across the screen,   I had to update the firmware on the inspire and my radio!!!    This sucks, maybe 2 more months without it because of a update,  BUT   Whew!   everything updated just fine and it flew great,  Now I`am happy!
