Just got my Spark today. Got brave and decided to take it over the Lake for some footage. When I did the video I was shooting became distorted. I then tried to return it to home and it shot straight up in the air so far I could barely see it. I had to abort and bring it back in manually. I attempted this a second time and same results. Any idea what I'm doing wrong??

Doesn't the return to home have a preset altitude the spark travels to before it starts to return to home in order to avoid things like trees in its path.

What is your RTH altitude set at?

It's set at 0.

Yes, it's 30. Sorry it was showing 0 when powered off.

30 meters is approximately 98 feet

I know but what I'm saying is when I selected return home it went straight up and stayed there. It never moved forward to land at the point of take off.

Prior to take off, was the Home Point recorded?

Would you please sync your flight records through APP, then PM me your DJI account and tell me the exact time it happened?
And you could also export the flight log through Assistant 2 when it happened if convenient then upload the file to Dropbox and post link here so we can review it for you.
