Im trying to unlock a yellow zone and it wants my controllor serial.  I go the about tag and it's blank?  Which number on the back of the controller is ther serial number.   There is a lot of numbers.

When you are connected to the Go 4 App with the remote and Spark. Enter the device home page go to the general settings page with the three dots ...   top right of the page view.
go to the bottom of the list, tap the About and the SN is shown.

Are you running an OTG cable. Given the issues this is causing currently, I would try connecting without to see if the makes a difference.

Serial by default is 123456. It’s the 6 digit number located on the bottom of the controller usually last set of numbers near bottom of the controller.

This is completely absurd to require to have the aircraft on, when the information we need is stored in teh controller only

I'm using an Android tablet.  What S/N do I use?

On my mavic pro, the serial number listed in the DJI Go4 app was not printed anywhere on the controller itself.I believe the serial is for the FLIGHT controller, not the actual hand held controller.

The serial is a 14 digit string consisting of numbers and letters.
eg 01ABCDEF01234X

The steps are the same for iOS and Android:

• Turn on the drone, connect the controller & phone / tablet.
• Open DJI Go4 app
• Enter device
• Press 3 dots ... in top right corner to open general settings
• Select 3 dots ... from menu then 'About'
• In the About screen you will the serial number
  

In IOS its called 'Flight Controller Serial Number'.
In Android its called 'Flight Controller SN'.

That means that you haven't turn on your drone. Both the drone and the RC must be turned on

The flight controller is inside the drone, so it makes sense you need to turn it on to check it, the other way is to open up your drone and there should be a serial number sticker stuck to the flight control board, but doing that would void your warranty.

Absolutely ridiculous process to find a serial number.  Absurd.  Oh and I have the Mavic Mini, which conveniently isn't one of the drone choices in the Go 4 app.  Awesome.  Well done team.  Still haven't located this thing btw. #

I had trouble getting the fc serial. The instructions to use .../about didn't work because there was no such menu. Turns out I'm on Android and the DJI app in the play store is fake. Using the same icon, etc. Make sure you get the app from DJI.com and not the play store
