No he was also connected to WIFI so it showed that he was connected trough WIFI if you look in the comments of that video someone corrected him and said he was sorry and he was wrong. Just turn off your WIFI or Connect to a different WIFI network

Just a head ups guys. I did bought anf tried the RANTOW braided cable but it doesn't work on my iphone 7+ connected to
the RC. Anyone have a success ? I would like to try the OTG and connect the lightning + USB to it as an alternative.

I saw on other forums people saying that you had to use the dji OTG adapter with a lightning cable in order for it to work.  I personally don't know as I have yet to decide between spark and mavric, but the spark fly more is in my budget, the mavric fly more isn't but it could be in q couple months.

I tried with the cable to my iPhone with wifi turned off and the range is still Rubbish. Loosing signal at 60m max.
Dunno what's wrong.

I ordered the braided cable with the angled plugs also. Connection is spotty with my iPhone 6 Plus, but seems to work fine with my iPad Mini 4.

no luck with my iphone 7+. using that exact same braided cord as yours.

I just got an OTG adapter connected to the stock Apple USB lightning  cord and it works like a charm.
Video transmission is improved and hope no more flight disconnection.

I thought mine wasn't working either. But then I found if I plug it in to the iPhone first THEN into the RC, it worked. Could be a fluke, but that's what works here.

I'm using the same RANTOW braided cable with iPhone 6 and latest updates, range increased slightly but still getting video reception loss or latency at 60+ meters...
The only positive thing is i dont have to connect with wifi, just plug-and-play cables and away you go...
