I want both. But I'm waiting for mavic 2. Spark works great and will meet all my needs until then.

I mean if the wind exceeds its max speed then yeah, you're going to have issues. I've been out immoderate wind and had no problems.

I returned my Mavic and then I got Spark. I like Spark overall but I do miss Mavic for longer distance and better video.

distance, occusync, 4K and settings are better with the Mavic.

A week into buying the spark whilst I'm glad I did I half regret not buying the mavic. It's clear the Mavic is quite a lot more capable (3rd axis of gimbal, longer flight times, RAW photos and 4K being the biggest differences for me). However, I just know the difference in size would have been critical - actually going biking/walking/climbing/sailing will still be my priority rather than 'droning' whilst doing those things and there simply is not a mavic sized hole in my kit bag(s) whilst I'm prepared to make a spark sized hole.

The Spark and Mavic are in different classes even though they are being compared. The transmission systems alone between the 2 are night and day. I have both and I can tell you the Spark is fun to "play" with despite the issues everyone is experiencing which I'm sure will be resolved with future updates. The Mavic at the end of the day is a more polished drone with more tech. In the past couple of years there have been alot of kickstarters for the palm sized selfie drones being introduced and I this was DJI's "I don't think so" into that market. Again despite the current distance and/or RC issues its experiencing, the Spark still has more tech than any equally-sized drone on the market.

I was in the position to buy either but settled on the Spark mainly because I'll be using it mainly for filming whilst on holiday abroad. The list of countries banning drones is getting large now, so I went for the cheaper option in case it gets confiscated at customs

i haven't has any wind issues with my spark...


that being said, i do plan on getting the mavic pro.  just more of a matter of when and how.. if these spark issues go unchecked much longer (couple weeks) i may return it for a mavic pro.  otherwise ill slowly save up like i did with spark..

Own the Spark but went ahead and purchased the Mavic Pro which I just heard was delivered. Hopefully I'll be doubly impressed ?

Would sooner sell the Mrs

The Spark is my first drone, I like flying it a lot. I'm probably going to buy a Mavic at some point and keep both.

I have had my Spark for a couple months now, take delivery of my Mavic today.  Caught the DJI bug.

U forgot one option... I will never sell my Mavic!!!

I ended buying both. Started with a mavic, as I've never flown drones before I was kinda scared of flying outdoors incase I lost it or it flies away or something. Tried flying indoors with the mavic and it's much too large for that. Ended up buying the spark to practice flying indoors and it's perfect for that. I'm happy with both. They are for different purposes.

None yet....
But I think Spark is going to be the first drone I am going to own.

Sizewise and pricewise the 'best' option for now.
If I also get stung by the DJI bee and 'need' more, I will wait for the Mavic 2 I guess and learn flying the Spark way first.

I had a Mavic for several months, used it quite a bit during this summer but sold it ... bought the Spark (was not intended after selling the Mavic). I now regret the Mavic ... Guess I'm going to buy a Mavic again

Maybe wait a bit for Mavic 2? (hoping it will be released soon)
Why are you regretting selling the Mavic?

Sold my mavic for spark.
Main reasons;
License requirements in Turkey (my hometown)
Draws too much attention from people around you
Good for professional purposes, but not exactly a hobbyist drone. I can take photos and videos of *other* people, but not myself with my family (you obviously can, but with a huge remote showing up in every photo).

With the spark (fly more combo) I can both enjoy flying and taking selfies or quickshots, and I can use the extra cash for Dji Goggles.

That was my two cents.

You can just set the camera to take pictures on a timer, then you can hide the remote and be in the picture.

Correct, but still. I don't want to take the remote so far away that it will be out of the frame (at least 10 meters away from me) because you never know what could possibly happen and you just might need to intervene with the drone.
Or some kid or cat can fiddle with it. I don't know, maybe its just me.

No Mavic 2 just a Platinum.  Were just going to have to wait longer.

Majority of the people prefer keep the mavic with the spark ;-)

contemplating getting the Mavic but waiting to see what happens with drone regulations in Canada.  I'd hate to buy a Mavic and can't fly it the same way I fly my spark.  it's small and pretty quiet which keeps me out of trouble and reduced public attention ..

in France, the Mavic is under the weight for which a declaration will be mandatory
