Curios with all these threads about losing contact and/or drone. How far have you flown your spark (distance and alt) and in what wifi mode (2.4 or 5) and using phone or remote and what specific settings think helped best (did it return safely in Fly Home Mode)

disclamier: just got my remote and not sure I should trust it or keep using phone.............

Cheers,

Toni

100 m. high 500 m. away. Connecting iPad pro 9.7" to RC via wifi, hdmi goggles to iPad. I don't want to fly higher than that because of the strong wind above and the battery is not large to fly further than that. Safety first. I do not want to lost my Spark.

Flying with Remote Control, since it is just WIFI, I stay under 400 feet and go no further than 1,000 feet with confidence when flying the Spark.

Are you guys all flying in remote areas? Because i'm getting way less distance flying in the city area. Probably due to all the wifi interference

Each flight with my Spark I try to go a bit further out as I gain confidence in it. I'm now at about 1,900 feet out and 300' up

This actually answers my question about the obsession with height and distance. The size of the Spark obviously in no way gives a warning to these people. It's small, it's not heavy, it can't handle the wind speeds at height that a Phantom, Mavic or Inspire can. The motors are smaller. Come on people, show a little respect for what you have here. Overblown expectations by a hell of a lot of people on this forum. All you hear is people whining about stuff that they, mostly have caused. I love it and have no intention of flying it as high or as far as that. Just wish the damn weather in the UK would sort itself out.

Agreed.  A Spitfire wouldn't have the range or altitude of a Halifax or a Lancaster.  You have to have realistic expectations for this little drone.

663 m is far for you? Well guess my Phantom just starts to get warm on that distance.

I certainly have no intention of trying to fly my Spark that far. It vanishes after about 100m LOS and is high enough at about, lets say 50-60m for what I need it for. Need to get on the football pitch near us and try sport mode out for the giggle. Just waiting for some bits and bobs to come and hopefully the weekend will be less windy.
