My Inspire 1 asked for a new firmware version for the controller and the aircraft. I updated the controller, but when I went looking for the last aircraft firmware in the I1 page, I didn't find one, is just the v1.10.1.40 the one the aircraft is already running. I still get the message on the app of new firmare available tho.
Any one having this problem?

Thanks, regards.

What is new in the remote firmware? If I update the firmware to the aircraft... do I need to have internet access all the time while flying outside? Or is it just one time and that's it. Login once and you're good to go?

The PDF  ( Release Notes) on the downloads page explains what each update does.  BUT sometimes they dont list everything.  IE : one time the max speed was reduced with no mention of it in the update, things like that can happen.  I persnally always wait about 2 weeks and look at what other members post regarding updates , In most cases unless mandatory you DO NOT need to update unless you wish to , the problem is the Go app may not work if you update that , I always set my I pad for a notification before updating so I have the choice on what updates I wish to recieve .  Once you update the go app there is NO way ( unless you stored it on I tunes ) to go back  to previous versions .

http://www.dji.com/inspire-1/info#downloads

The PDF file with the release notes  is on the right column of the page . Make sure you read both the Ac and RC PDF file to understand what the update are all about .

You do NOT need to have Internet access all the time when flying outside ,BUT  when using the Maps feature map sure you have the maps "cached" on the go app so they are stored when the GO app is out of range of a  wi fi signal .  This is located under "General Settings " of the go app .

You will on occasion want to log into the dji log in on there website with the Go app device you are using for your system  , this will then confirm that you are on the latest updates and sync the flight records as well.  This will also eliminate the +  symbol after the old firmware update as when you log in it confirms with dji servers that the update is completed.

I hope I am not confusing you as I tend to give a lot of information in addition to just answering the question .

bottom line is you DO not need Internet access to fly .

You just have to be logged in, no internet connection required all the time.

Donnie,
Agree with what you are saying. DJI has updated the Go App which requires the FW to be updated in the Inspire 1 also and vice versa. If you update the FW and do not update the Go App the aircraft will be unstable (look at what happened to Dobmatt).  So the old days of just leaving everything alone does not hold true anymore.

DJI has changed this with all of the drones, I have noticed this on my Mavic, P4P and Inspire 2 also.

No confusion at all. Very clear. I appreciate your help!

I might hold off on the update for awhile then. See what others have to say about it. I flew the Inspire this past weekend with the latest firmware before DJI released the new one. Had no issues flying. Other than 1 of my batteries are showing signs of cell 1 being weak in voltage. I might try draining it completely until it shuts off, charge it full and see if that helps the cell 1.

One other thing... when will DJI update their DJI go app? It keeps crashing on my Nvidia Shield K1 tablet. The latest android version isn't working well with DJI go it seems...

Will be checking it out today after everything is charged up

Make sure you go over all of your settings in the Go App, as many are reset to default

I updated my Inspire 1 Pro, RC and Camera last nite and all said successful. I just got in from testing it and only thing I notice is the Inspire and RC don't connect right away like before. Some times I had to turn everything off and go  through the process again ( remote- Bird- Go app) . It took 3 times once. I am fairly new to the DJI birds and the Inspire and usually fly it with everything in auto so I could have missed some other problems as well. IF any! Waiting to see how Rich's test flight went too .
Thanks

Hi Alan

I did not have any trouble connecting so far with my first tests. I did not get to fly today because my meeting ran late.

Successful update of my Inspire 1 V2.0. I did a short flight test, just hovering in my back yard at 2 meters, and it seemed ok. A bit twitchy maybe, but that does not mean it had anything with the firmware, it could have been the wind.

Everything worked just like it should. I had 3 flights and I was very pleased. HD video worked great with my iPad mini4 with no CPU overload issues at ALL. I flew up to 8000 feet away (awesome.... by the way it was over 95*F today. I flew 2 flights with my Mavic Pro with my DJI Goggles and had a blast!!  My In Inspire 2  (1 flight) worked perfectly also...

Great day of flying and DJI Apps and drones worked without any issues at all

I flew at a remote location and my devices were set in airplane mode.

The Inspire 1 with X3 camera  takes about 8 minutes or so. I did not time it and just waited for the beep sound to change and the yellow LED flashing....

Hi Donnie

Yes, the DJI goggles are worth the money! They are much nicer than my Fatshark Dominators HD goggles and cheaper.

They will work with the Inspire 1 HDMI output only none of the other features will show up or supported.  If the Inspire 1 is the only drone you intend to use, then it might not be worth getting them. If you buy a Mavic Pro or P4P.... then this would be a awesome experience !!

This is a quick shot of what I did yesterday at our local flying field with the Mavic Pro

I'm doing fine, thanks. We've been getting more video work from existing clients so besides being busy working, I've been hard at work getting a media server up and running plus all the clips we are putting up on the web site. Oh yeah... and building the interface for the clips on the site. All are projects that eat into my already short sleep time. lol but hey... It's better than waking up and wondering 'what shall we do today?' LOL

Just a note that may help someone else if they have the same happen that I did with the latest firmware update. All firmware updated successful but I had problems with connecting to the AC and Ipad. It would connect and then drop connection over and over. I rolled back the RC firmware to v1.6.0 and then restarted the RC and Go App and it called for the new firmware again ( v1.7.80) I reinstalled the new firmware . Just got back from testing and all seems good now. Hope this can help if needed !

I find the gimbal dance is slightly different now with the new firmware. For me, it'll do it's dance. Once it's done rotating around, it'll stop as it does with the camera facing front. Then start to move right slowly. The camera then faces down and corrects itself again facing front. All is fine after that. Just strange, never had that before with the previous firmware.

Did you happen to update the Go app before the RC and the AC by any chance ( to the latest FW ) ?  Or did you update the RC and AC then the go app last ?

I have seen a trend with this no go app causing issues with older  FW.

The DJI Go app was already installed to the latest version. Then I updated the RC. Left the RC off. Updated the AC. All was good. I'm getting video feed with no problems. Even in my house with a lot of noise. The signal in my house isn't the greatest, but the video feed is solid with no issues. Just the gimbal dance is different this time around. What I did notice, is a + sign at the end of the AC firmware version. I think DJI needs to either update the app, or their servers so the version is accurate in the app.
