Why do I get a class d warning notice when the go4 map and Airmap clearly show that I am in open air space.

That isn't unusual and can be ignored if you know the message is off base, but if you provide the specific location where you encounter this we can probably shed a little more light on why it occurs. Most likely there's an entry in DJI's GEO map that's triggering it.

It looks like this may be because of the Flagstaff Pulliam airport. DJI's GEO map shows an "Enhanced Warning Zone" around it with a 5-mile radius, though the location you specified appears to be even farther away than that, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for confirming what I was thinking.  It is always good to have somebody take a second look.
