Did some machining today, and completed my CrystalSky 5.5" mount for the Mavic controller.
The baseplate is was machined out of a solid block of aluminium. Same for the bracket on the bracket for the CS.
The arm and the part that screws onto the CS is made of 2mm carbonfibre. Just because i had some lying around.

Does anyone know of a place to get a USB-C cable that has a 90 degree bend the other way?
Would love to get the cable secured to the arm.

Amazon and shipping to Norway does not go well.
I found some myself, but they where either to long, or had the wrong connector in the other end.
Will look into modifying one myself.

Man that is beautiful work
Did you make this bracket specifically for the Mavic.
As I have the mavic and the inspire 2 and want the 5.5 inch crystal sky on both devices  but I was going to use the mounting bracket that came for the inspire 2 remote somehow with a plate for the mavic
Im on it

Yes, i made this specifically for my Mavic.
Thinking about replacing the screws that secure the CS with thumbscrews. That way i can easily remove it for whatever reason.

Very impressive!

What are your initial thoughts on the Crystalsky, is it stable, noticeably brighter etc?

I'm always a little reticent of jumping into version 1.0 of a product.

Thx Ken

I have had some issues when i first power up the Mavic, controller and CS.
Last time i was out, i had to do a reboot twice before the image was good. Had severe lag before the reboots.
Once i have it running smoothly, there are no app crashes. I did notice last time some minor stutters in the image transmission, but that could have been due to flying near power lines.
I still have not got to test it in direct sunlight, but it is way brighter then my phone. On the phone i had to manually select max brightness to get a decent view, the CS manages just fine in similar lighting conditions.

The holder allows me to get the screen higher above the controller leading to more relaxed operation.

I hope they will release a new firmware soon, as i see many people have issues with stuttering.

Great job....I am still waiting for DJI to release the bracket I do not know why it is taking so long? The Mavic 2 with a built in Crystalsky will probably be out soon!!!!

StianGel - That is some beautiful machining!  Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship.  I have the 7.85 UltraBright on pre-order and was figuring on using a MavMount to my Mavic Controller - but IF someone comes out with a mount made with your craftsmanship, I may rethink that one.

Thank You

Since i could not find the perfect cable anywhere, i decided to try making my own.
Bought some USB-C and USB-A plugs online.
Sacrified a USB extension cable for the cable. Had a 4 lead witch was fairly thin.
Then i realized that my soldering skills was not up to the task. Stripped the wires and did the best i could with the soldering iron i have. (Should have gotten a thinner one.)
Did also run out of thin heatshrink tubing, so i placed the wires inside the arm and coverd it with heatshrink tubing.
Then i made sure that i did not have any short's before testing with my phone and PC first.
Will make a small shroud over the plugs when i get the chance.

Got myself a new bag for the Mavic and remote-CS combo. A Manfrotto SB-A6.
So i modeled a protective cover and had a friend 3D print it as "my" mill was occupied.
Now it slides in and out of my bag without snagging on the USB plug.

I like the idea, but it looks like the cable sticking out could be damaged easily when placing the controller on the ground.

It may be a bit smaller from what you are trying to accomplish. On the other hand, it is not always so obvious what is going on in the accessories department. Thank you for your posting as well. Some great information there.
