Either way you need to bring the batteries as carry on, max of 2 x TB48 and as many TB47s as you like.
From reading other posts some airlines appear to be banishing the Inspire to cargo even if it technically fits as carryon.
You may not know until you hit the gate so there is a very strong argument for avoiding the hassle completely, putting it in a pelican and checking it, keeping the batteries with you as carry on with the terminals taped or put in lipo bags.
Otherwise you run the risk of getting to the gate with only the soft case and given the ultimatum to check it as is or not get on the flight.
I've seen this happen to guys with $25k of fragile photographic gear needing to get to an important job and having no choice but to check it and pray.
Can only imagine the stress it caused!
I'm guessing that you would have a few pelicans lying around. I've amassed a huge collection over the years and I have one big enough to take the entire Inspire soft case and still have room for other stuff. I think I would just go down this road if I were flying, even if there were a chance the airline would allow it, not worth the stress of a big argument, which I would ultimately lose if it came down to it.
