When I bought my inspire this was advertised by a DJI official demo film as Autonomous navigation! Very fraudulent in my opinion, we are are ALL still waiting for this function to be included in our Pilot App, so at the moment this is just for marking/outlying an area on the screen.

There have been rumours that it will become a geo ringfence feature where you draw a boundary (say for freeways or power lines etc) and the Inspire will only fly within your predetermined boundary.

I can neither confirm nor deny if there is any substance to those rumours.

Autonomous-way-point-flight is going to be very important to me, or I'm going to need to make a change. I need to fly fields for remote crop sensing which will require a pretty consistent over lap on my videos and images.

When you draw a line it is a reference line for the pilot to fly.  That is it.  Don't believe what you read on the internet.  Rumors run rampant and most are not true.

The DJI Help Line personal has told me numerous times that autonomous way-point-flight is coming soon. I've check with several of them and they all say this.

What say you.... about what these people are saying?

It's a line drawing tool, at present it is only representory, in the future it may work with ground station, but who knows?

I come across that icon several times.  How do I replace that with the original camera-aim icon?  I usually restart my phone, but that seems like a waste of time.

Are they still rumors when DJI employees spread them?

Check Ed's and Gaz's replies. There lies your answer. I have not used it yet but I have drawn  the flight path with it and then deleted it form the Tablet.

Desperately need your input on another thread Tahoe..........."Can you answer this question"

I think the questions I have posed will definitely help all of us in having a better understanding of the Inspire system. It will also help me out in understanding what could have failed and if I could have done something to prevent it. Looking forward to your response

There was another video from a German show with the Inspire.  It also show an ground station module.  That did not make it into production and the video you showed did not either.  DJI has repeated stated there is currently no plans for Autonomous Flight functions.  If and when that changes I am sure DJI will inform its users.

I am a DJI employee.  Understand that as a Chinese company, DJI plays their cards very close to the vest.  There are many competitors that would pay big money to know what they are up to.  Everything is on a need to know basis and I do not need to know.  Right now the political environment is not conducive to any further development of Autonomous Flight Control Systems particularly in the US.  But as I have stated I don't know.

Thanks for an honest answer.  

I just wish DJI would follow up on the marketing videos etc. that clearly indicate autominous routes will be provided with the Inspire.  Some Inspire owners purchased on the back of some of these statements and marketing videos.

Ed, its wrote in manual:

Ground station have to be available sooner or later, it was even stated at initial launch at official webpage

According to Tahoe Ed, Big Brother is trying to put the KABASH on autonomous flight in the U.S., at least for hobbyists.

Well, the are another 195 countries left in the world which have less or more strict rules. At least its not all about US

I agree with you GB44, I'm one of those guys you speak of who purchased an Inspire-1 Based on what their help line employees told me prior to my purchase.
