Today i finally gave in to my Daughter who also flys drones. 3 weeks the spark has sat there in its box due to all the bad posts ive read fly way wifi drops ext. I used R.C. with otg cable connected to iphone 6 no wifi Bluetooth and airplane mode was on. I flew several times waited 15 minutes after every battery and no issue's thank goodness.  I did not fly higher than 80 feet or did i travel away from the park i was at . I really want to see it higher and further away but iam being extremely careful and breaking her in with patience.  Hope these issue's get resolved soon and everyone could go back to enjoying not just the Drone but the brand as well. Dji has been very successful with resolving issues on the previous model's phantom,mavic ext. These guys just need to speed it up a bit. I also read in another site we should have another update next week.  Any one have some info ?

manuals an tutorials are not going to stop me from flying it into something accidentally

if you crash a Mavic Pro, i agree, likely user error above all else.. however the spark is a hazard to itself and others. not every spark is, and congrats on having the lucky few that work ideally... seriously im glad not every spark tries to off itself for no reason.

Nice metal head wrap.  I haven't had any problems after 10 or so flights.  I have the OTG cable and am to lazy to use it most times.  Flown it over water, 200 m high, 1200 m out. No problems.  Make sure you got a solid home point and good sat coverage.  No worries. I trust mine.

Total flying time:  6 hours, 25 minutes
Total distance:     64,494 feet
Total flights:         55
No problems (apart from Pilot Error) except flaky gesture control and high battery drain using my iPhone 6S+ with the remote control. I'm very happy with the Spark. Remarkable engineering.

And you're a darn fine Dad to get the kids involved in this. You cannot overestimate the effect that hands-on tech can have in a kid's development.
