Hi All,
First post - I've been flying my Mavic offshore to capture some of our spearfishing runs. I'm hoping to use the googles to spot Mahi. I didn't see a lot of info as far as this topic goes so I thought I'ld share some early work with you.

Let me know if there are any other avid fisherman with any tips and tricks.

Check out our Trip to the BAJA CAL off Marco Florida. She was torpedoed by a german UBOAT.

Thanks!

Amazing video. Did you have any issue launching off the boat?

No issue - Boat has to be at a complete stop. I launched from the bow. I was able to recover it underneath the top though.  I fly it in backwards and hand catch it. I bought a set of floats for it the last time and I almost crashed it because of the extra drag and what it does to the sensors.  Your better off just risking it. This is my 5th time flying it way out without an issue.

Consider getting a "GetterBack".  It's a float that reels out to 100 fit. And supports up to 10lbs.  You velcro strap  to the drone rear arm.  It deploys when it gets wet.

The quality is great...I'll have to find a reason to use my Hero 5 underwater.  Maybe I'll try it out in my bathtub

yes you can see the quality jump between the 2. I'ld like the 5 for a point and shoot since it shoots raw. The video you saw on the boat was with the karma grip. I'ld love the OSMO but I already have the gopros and DJI took all my money when I bought the mavic and googles.

Not as much as a coward like you...

really dude? Let me guess, you do free diving and you hate on people that use tanks? Come on man no everybody has your skills to go down 80-100' and stay down there for 10-15 minutes. Whats that? You can't stay down there for 10-15 minutes while free diving??? Yeah....

How deep was the wreck? And water temp? (Yes, I'm a diver, too. ).

Great video. I, too, was wondering about launching and landing off a (potentially) moving platform.

My first time launching from a boat I hit the center console because I was launching from the bow, we were moving and I didn't realize what was obvious lol. After that time I have launched many times from the same moving boat at slower speeds. I usually hand launch and catch my Mavic. Very rarely I launch from the ground. I go to the back of the boat and hand launch from there. I always make sure to have the Home point set to the remote. Landing is a bit trickier and that I always do with the boat stopped lol.

110' 86 Degrees. Always hand launch like Asainz320 says.

Thanks for the info (and Asainz320, too). It seems like launching and landing from any moving platform would be a challenge. Add in the water element just to make it more exciting if things don't work out! Great to see people giving it a try.

Sounds like a great wreck dive... a wee bit jealous. :-)
