Just curious when I should replace the props on my P4 regular? I always inspect my props before and after flight and also run my finger and nail around the edges. I have no cracks but sometimes the odd bug gut or dust. Should they be replaced regardless after so much time or just go till you see something? I have 2 extra full sets still since last year.

I use light sand paper on mine from time to time to smooth out bugs and small dings.  Mine are still original.

My only replacement so far was on a P3 where it hit a post and broke off part of one.

I inspect the blades on a regular basis.  I check the leading edges for hits, cracks and warps.  I remove the blades and inspect the underside of the hub to assure that all parts are solid and not deformed.  I inspect the mounts on top of the motors to assure they are solid and the screws are firmly placed and not backed out.  To date, I have only had to replace broken blades caused by a tip over on landing, and two warped blades, which I suspect were warped when they were new.  Any area where there a lot of flying bugs you may get dings or hits on the blades leading edge, which could cause the blade to operate inefficiently.   I simply run my finger across the leading edge and compare the roughness to a new blade, and if I become suspect, I will retire the blade.  I also clean the blades with a damp paper towel whenever I get bug splatter.  The blades themselves seem to be very well made and I am still flying on a few originals.

As was mentioned by a previous poster, I also regularly inspect all props for damage (and have replaced two because of bad nicks). After 30 hours of use, and before heading off to fly in the mountains, I replaced all props as a precautionary measure. My P3P has more than 400 km of flight.

My P4 has over 60 hours and about 1000 miles and I am still on the original props, no crashes or nicks. I live out in the country and fly most of the time around 30 mph. I will change the prop retaining springs as preventive maintenance soon.

I was once told by a moderator to replace Mavic props every 200 flights.  Im not sure how it that will apply to Phantom series props.
