I made an antenna reflector for spark .. It adds about 200m to maximum distance. Here's the thing for print and instructions https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2454228 . Here is flight log without reflector https://healthydrones.com/main?f ... 86ddc7e651052bfdec9 and with reflector https://healthydrones.com/main?f ... _id=GENERALOverview .. With reflector is important targeting on drone all time flight!! Tested in Europe and 5.8Ghz AC/RC link.

looking at the actual distance though... 2000 feet isn't that much..   considering i taken my ex-sparky out 1200 feet in a moderately congested neighborhood with a lot of wifi signals in the way.    ill still test it next week.

Design is a calculated, must it to accurate parabola with antenna position in the focus of the parabola.. Any design changes decrease quality.

i need to brush up on my RF theory.   i know 2.4Ghz and 5.8ghz are terrible signals for longer distance propagation.       they have a very defined path.. whereas lower frequencies have a much less defined paths and can tend to travel all directions better.

that being said i will do some testing of my own in a week's time..  hopefully up at my family farm. where less wifi interference and much wider open range.

Is EU, lower transmit output, according DJI only 1000ft

This thing is only a parabola, no antenna with dimension dependence of frequency. Parabola does not have dimensions a dependence on frequency. It acts like a mirror.

Ive used these things on my Phantom 3, and had solid, full bars signal at 3km. No glitching or anything. I have ordered some of these for my Spark.

For those without access to a 3D printer, you can order these from goodluckbuy or aliexpress, just search for "mavic range booster" and you get many options.

only have 2 complaints about reflectors.. one is they look silly..  and 2 is they form a beam.. that beam maybe very strong and allows better range but it can also really be weak on the outer edges..

i has seen a few mods that actually do work that replace the antennas (hardware modding, so be careful) with a flat box that apparently works really well.. but then again who knows.

If you are out for a long distance flight in a given direction, why not.

Otherwise it may affect the "overall range", but I suppose that we tend to point "naturally" the RC towards the drone while in flight.
